IRMA Training Courses

IRMA Training UK based: providing courses from 1-day Conflict Resolution training to 5 day PMVA Practitioner Course, with Positive Behavoural Support following latest NICE Guidelines. We teach theoretical aspects of conflict resolution as well as practical aspects in dealing with violence and aggression. We do not use Pain-compliance techniques with our physical interventions restraint training.

All our staff have attended the NHS Security Management Service Promoting Safer and Therapeutic Services familiarisation courses and have signed up for their Intranet so we can keep up with research and guidelines. We cover the 10 Objectives set out in the NHS CFSMS Conflict Resolution National Syllabus Familiarisation course.

PMVA, Conflict Resolution, Least Restrictive practice, MVA, TMVA, Challenging Behaviour, Safeguarding Level 3

Our trainers are Mental Health Nurses or Healthcare workers who have worked within the mental health field for many years. They are used to dealing with Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression, Challenging Behaviour and Conflict Resolution on a day-to-day basis.

Two to Three Hour Sessions on Challenging Behaviour

This is a short session looking at Managing Conflict and Behaviours that can challenge Staff. We cover communication and De-escalation techniques as well as teaching some Breakaway techniques.


One Day Conflict Resolution/Breakaway Course

This is a theoretical and awareness course for staff from secretaries to receptionists, shop floor workers to benefit officers, in fact this one day course is for any individual dealing with conflict within the working environment. Within this one day course, participants will gain knowledge and enhance skills of awareness in managing and resolving conflict.


Two Day PMVA, MVA, TMVA Course

This is a two day mixed course of both theoretical and practical aspects, for those staff working within environments with clients who at times are unable to manage themselves and their potentially aggressive behaviour. Within the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course we concentrate on managing ggressive situations through techniques of observing, assessing, managing, supporting and evaluating situations through communication techniques and aim to resolve aggressive situations without physical interventions.


Three Day PMVA, MVA, TMVA Course

This is a three day mixed course of both theoretical and practical aspects, for those staff working within environments with clients who at times are unable to manage themselves and their potentially aggressive behaviour. Within the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course we concentrate on managing aggressive situations through techniques of observing, assessing, managing, supporting and evaluating situations through communication techniques and aim to resolve aggressive situations without physical interventions.


Five Day to Seven Day Train the Trainer Course

This is a five day mixed course of both physical and theoretical aspects, and is for those staff who work within Mental Health Services. The length of the course is dependant on individual choices of those purchasing this training. Also whether staff have already attended our Conflict Resolution Training Course.


Safeguarding of Children & Young People Level 3

Course content:

  • What is Abuse and the different kinds of abuse Children and Young People may suffer
  • Legislation
  • Reporting, Recording and Investigating
  • Serious Case reviews
  • Scenarios / role plays

The Course is a One Day Course. By the end of the day Participants will be able to:
Understand current legislation regarding safeguarding and protection of children and young people.
Understand other legislation, policies, procedures and guidance regarding safeguarding and protection of children and young people.
Recognise the levels of abuse through statistics.
Recognise and understand the different types of abuse, their signs, symptoms and indicators.
Understand the Implications for Professionals including the “Gillick” competency and “Fraser” guidelines.
Know who is involved in partnership working.
Understand the importance of Risk Assessment.
Be aware of serious case reviews and their outcomes.
Understand the importance of child centred approach and resilience of children and young people.
Manage and deal with disclosure, recording and reporting, the investigation process regarding safeguarding and protection of children and young people.
